God is always at work drawing people to Himself and transforming lives. His heart is filled with compassion for those struggling in devastating circumstances.
The Kunama people of Eritrea and Ethiopia have suffered great losses: Their villages, families and lives have been torn apart by years of civil unrest. Thousands have been forced to leave everything behind, and many are living in refugee camps wondering how to start again.
Despite all of this, a group of Kunama refugees have been working tirelessly to translate God’s Word into their language. Members of the team have full-time jobs and spend their evenings and weekends working on the translation because they are deeply passionate about their people experiencing God’s love and comfort in the midst of their challenges.
God is using the team’s sacrifice to impact the lives of many Kunama like Maya.
For many years, the only Bible that Maya had was in a dialect that was hard to read. But recently she received a portion of Scripture that had been translated into Kunama. She was ecstatic to finally have God’s Word in a language she clearly understood. “This is what we have been waiting for! I can read this by myself!” she exclaimed.
The Kunama people are hungry to have all of God’s Word in their language, and the goal of a complete Kunama Bible is within reach. They have just five Old Testament books and three New Testament books to complete!
Today you can help the Kunama translation team finish the job and provide all of God's Word for their community who have been waiting so long for the Bible in their language.
