On Aug. 31, 2024, a dream became reality for the Rangi people of Tanzania. That morning, a church in the village of Haubi overflowed with singing and dancing as the community celebrated the completion of the New Testament in their language.

Emilia, a Rangi woman, expressed her joy: “The difference [of having Scripture in my language] is there are many words that touch my heart because those words are very deep in Rangi.”

Now that the New Testament has been translated into the Rangi language, local churches in Tanzania can fulfill their mission to share the gospel, disciple new believers and equip people to be godly leaders in their homes and communities.

“When God created the world, He wanted to communicate with us,” said Paulo, a Rangi church leader. “So … God is now communicating with [us] in a way that is very easy, in the language [we] really understand.”

This Easter, Emilia and Paulo and the Rangi community will engage with the story of Jesus in a way that truly resonates with them, thanks to the gift of translated Scripture.
