A single invitation led Gil (name and picture changed) to experience Jesus’ power.

Gil, who lives in South Asia, had been experiencing severe stomach pain that made him miserable. Then one day his neighbor invited him to a prayer meeting to ask Jesus for relief.

Gil and his family worshipped other gods, but in his desperation, he decided to accept the invitation. And that day at the prayer meeting, his stomach pain disappeared.

After experiencing God’s power through prayer, Gil chose to turn from false idols and follow Jesus. “When I started to pray and live according to Scripture,” Gil said, “my life turned to happiness, and physically I started doing well.”

Today, Gil wants everyone to experience the joy of a relationship with Jesus. He is praying for the progress of Bible translation, and he hopes God will use it to provide life-changing encounters with Jesus in a language and format people in his community can clearly understand.

All over the world, God is answering the prayers of people like Gil. The Holy Spirit is empowering local partners on every continent who are passionate about translating God’s Word for those still waiting.

Gil and his entire family are eager to hear from God through His Word. And now Gil is able to use portions of Scripture translated into his language to lead his family in daily devotions.

But they are still praying for all of God’s Word to be translated. “I am waiting to see the whole Bible book!” Gil said.
