David (name and picture changed) hadn’t attended a church service in nearly 30 years.
Then one day he heard a passage from the New Testament in his language. In the passage, Jesus tells His disciple Peter to cast his fishing nets into the sea. At first, Peter protests — he had fished all night and caught nothing. But he quickly relents and lowers the empty nets again. This time, those nets are so full of fish that they begin to tear!
The Scriptural account amazed David. As a fisherman, he could relate to the situation, making the miracle all the more powerful.
“What a person [Jesus] was!” he said.
Soon after, David repented of his sins and surrendered his life to Christ. Today, he is a church leader, sharing the wonders of Jesus with others.
Bible translators in the Solomon Islands thank God for testimonies like David’s. They also pray that God continues to transform lives in their communities through His Word.
God is moving in the Solomon Islands and all around the world, bringing Scripture to people in the languages and formats they clearly understand. As the Holy Spirit works through Bible translation, people like David are seeing their lives transformed for eternity.
Your partnership is essential to saying “yes” to starting, sustaining and completing Bible translation. Local churches and communities are asking for our help to translate the Bible, and your support is making that possible.
Your gift today can help more people like David encounter the life-changing power of God’s Word in the language and format closest to their hearts.
Thank you for investing in the ministry of Bible translation. Together we look forward to the day when “... a vast crowd, too great to count, from every nation and tribe and people and language, stand[s] in front of the throne and before the Lamb” (Revelation 7:9a, NLT).
