Susan's scientific training and experience--and sharp eye for detail--help authors share accurate and engaging language and culture descriptions with readers. Language communities benefit when reports advance understanding and guide local educational and spiritual well-being initiatives.

 

Susan and her late husband, Lee, traveled within Mali, West Africa, to understand which language communities needed a Bible translation of their own. They established a Bible translation program in the then-unwritten J. language of Mali and Burkina Faso, raising their three children in its linguistically central village. Language analysis, a uniquely appropriate writing system, and literacy and song writing workshops developed fluent readers and musical composers. A locally-led, outreaching worshiping community formed. The J. New Testament (with Old Testament portions) was published in 2023.
