Josh was trained as a counselor at Dallas Theological Seminary where he served as a student counselor intern at the Wycliffe counseling center in Dallas. Since receiving his masters, Josh and his wife Julie joined Wycliffe fulltime where he continues to minister to other Wycliffe missionaries at home and abroad, from the JAARS training center in NC.

During their time of service in Alaska, Josh and Julie have seen some of the challenges that many missionaries face, from cross-cultural transition, depression and anxiety, to marital strain, interpersonal conflicts and trauma. Through counseling, Josh helps to equip Wycliffe’s members for the challenges that may present on their assignments, as well as walks alongside those in need of encouragement and healing. Counseling has an important role in the spiritual and emotional wellbeing of missionaries, contributing to flourishing and longevity in the work of bringing the word of God and the power of the gospel to yet unreached peoples.
