Julie has been a member of Wycliffe Bible Translators since 1987, first working in Peru on a short-term basis as an elementary school teacher. After marrying her husband, David, in 1993, they returned to Peru in support roles alongside David's parents who were translators for the Sharanahua people group. David and Julie had various assignments throughout their 25 year ministry in Peru. They moved to Waxhaw, NC, in 2012 when their oldest son was ready for college.

Although David and Julie would have liked to return to work overseas, they felt God calling them to help care for their aging parents. David took a full-time assignment with Wycliffe's partner, SIL, and Julie took a part-time assignment with Wycliffe's partner, JAARS. Julie worked first as the two-year-old classroom teacher in the preschool and in 2020 transitioned to an assignment at the Waxhaw Creek Apartments as their Community Care Coordinator. WCA is a facility for retired missionaries and volunteers.

In 2022 David became ill with hepatocellular carcinoma. After seven months of treatments, the Lord called David home to be with him on July, 3rd, 2023. Julie took a three month bereavement leave and then returned to her assignment with WCA in a full-time capacity. In May 2024 Julie became the Housing Manager at Waxhaw Creek Apartments. She counts it an incredible privilege to minister to these saints who have given their lives to serve the Lord in missions.
