“Before Bible translation I wasted my money on alcohol,” said Marcel.
But things changed as Marcel worked on the Mangbetu translation team. “The Word of God has transformed me,” he said. “Now I use my money for my children’s education and sometimes to help those who are less fortunate.”
When he first got involved, Marcel was impressed with what he learned about the early Christians in the Bible.
“In a spirit of unity, they met in homes to pray and break bread together,” he said. This inspired Marcel to initiate regular prayer and Scripture sharing with his family. Now he enjoys any opportunity to share God’s Word. “I’m not wasting any more time or money.”
During this three-year project, the translation team will publish five New Testament books — the Gospel of John, Acts and 1-3 John. In addition, eight other New Testament books will be translated and checked with a consultant.
Your prayers and gifts will help the Mangbetu people gain access to God’s Word in a language that touches their hearts!
Funds in excess of the current need will be applied to a similar project or to future needs within the same project.
