“Is God real?”
Máá, a young man from the Daasanach community in Kenya, wondered about this for many years. Even though he had attended church services and heard plenty of sermons in the national language, he still wasn’t convinced God was real. He had never experienced Jesus on a personal level.
Then one day, he and some other young people from the area gathered to hear the New Testament preached in Daasanach — a language he clearly understood. As Máá listened to the message, he felt something stirring inside him. God was speaking to him.
At that moment, Máá encountered the living God for the first time in his life and was given an answer to his most pressing question: “Yes, Jesus is alive and He desperately wants a relationship with us!”
“For many years I doubted who [God] is, but now He seems so close to me,” Máá explained. “When the Word of God was read in our language, it sounded clearer to me.”
When the sermon was finished and the preacher asked if anyone was ready to accept Jesus as their Savior, Máá was the first to stand up! Others followed and the meeting turned into a celebration as the believers in the congregation praised God for what He had done.
The Word of God is powerful, especially when it’s provided in a language and format that people clearly understand.
Today you can help more people like Máá encounter God through His Word and confidently say, “Yes, Jesus is alive!”
