Bridging the Gap in the Central African Republic
For years, we have desired to send two language survey staff members to do research out in the village areas here in the Central African Republic (CAR). There are many questions to answer: which Bibleless languages might be able to use New Testaments already published in related languages? Or could the New Testaments be easily adapted into a related language? Which communities will need a brand-new translation? Due to rebel activity in the countryside, and a lack of funding for survey work, many of these questions have gone unanswered for years.
In 2022, the survey team was finally able to investigate several situations, including the question “Can one of the newly completed New Testaments be adapted into two related languages instead of starting from scratch?” If so, this would essentially cut years off the translation time. The results show that it can! There are more strategic questions like this whose answers will be key to people receiving God’s Word in their language sooner. With your help to bridge the funding gap going forward, the survey team will have the resources they need to analyze languages, mobilize communities, and help prepare the way for many new language projects to begin in the coming years.
Your gift will bring the language communities of the Central African Republic one step closer to hearing God speak through his Word in their own languages. Thank you for considering partnering with Wycliffe to bridge the gap in CAR!
