All You Need to Know: Sign Language Bible Translation

A Bible in sign language looks different from printed Scripture.

Sign language is a visual language, different from any spoken language. God desires to communicate His love for His people in the languages that best capture their hearts — and for Deaf communities, that requires Scripture that is presented naturally, clearly and visually.

The Bible is a revered and sacred text for millions of people worldwide, and ensuring its accessibility to the global Deaf community is of utmost importance. Did you know there are nearly 400 known sign languages in use around the world today? Of these, more than 95 have at least some Scripture.

Join us for the latest updates in sign language Bible translation and how Scripture is brought to life visually. You’ll learn about Chameleon, a cutting-edge AI technology designed specifically for sign languages! You’ll also have a chance to ask questions live and learn more about how God is moving in Deaf communities worldwide.

Our guest presenter, Adan Burke, serves as a sign language partnership facilitator, playing a part in Bible translation for more than 60 sign languages around the world. Prior to joining Wycliffe in 2021, Adan worked as an American Sign Language translator at another organization, led interpreting teams at a top video remote interpreting agency and held leadership roles with a Deaf advocacy organization in Minnesota. He is passionate about Deaf people recognizing that they are God-empowered to lead, own, direct and sustain Scripture translation in their own languages and communities.

This webinar will be presented in English and American Sign Language (ASL). ASL interpreter provided.
