Why I Serve With Wycliffe: Meet Wendy
Meet Wendy Lundberg! Although Wendy enjoyed working as a teacher and high school principal at a Christian school, she looked forward to retiring and having more free time.
“I wanted to be free to have lunch with all my friends,” Wendy said. “I wanted to have a goal of spoiling my grandchildren. And I wanted to do something challenging — like maybe pickleball! Or something really non-stressful. But very quickly I got really bored. I found that I was living a life without purpose and meaning. I just felt that all my days, even though they were filled with activities, were really empty.”
Around that time Wendy attended a Perspectives class where the speaker shared how God is on the move around the world. Wendy remembered, “[The speaker asked], ‘If God is on the move, how can [we] be sitting on the sidelines?’ And I thought, ‘I really want to have more of the purpose of God in my life.’ And then he looked right directly at me and he said, ‘And you could be in Wycliffe.’ And I almost fell off my chair.”
At first, Wendy thought serving with Wycliffe wasn’t something that she could do. After learning more about what it takes to serve, she decided to join God’s global mission and contribute to Bible translation.
She said, “Wycliffe is for people who know that God is on the move and want to be part of a movement that is giving hope to people who want their lives transformed.
